Orphan Black is one of those TV shows that has a massive loyal following, but after five seasons and 50 episodes the series will end its run, BBC announced today.
Orphan Black will premiere Episode 1 of Season 5 on Saturday, June 10th at 10 p.m. ET/PT / 9 p.m. Central.
The summer premiere of Orphan Black does pose a problem though for awards consideration. Tatiana Maslany already won an Emmy (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series) in 2016 for her role as Sara Manning, but the series will not be considered for next year’s Emmy Awards.
Instead, the show will have to wait another year to qualify for Emmy awards consideration.
The show was also nominated two years earlier for a Golden Globe (Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama) in 2014 for Maslany’s performance as Sarah Manning.
Orphan Black was created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, distributed on TV by BBC (UK), BBC Worldwide (world-wide), Space (Canada) and BBC America (US) since 2013.
