Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release The Magnificent Seven (2016) to Blu-ray, 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray, and DVD on December 20, 2016. The film, sharing the same title as John Sturges’ Oscar-nominated film from 1960 starring Yul Brynner, was inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s classic Seven Samurai (1954).
On Blu-ray,The Magnificent Seven is formatted in 1080p at 2.39:1 widescreen aspect ratio with a soundtrack in English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. On Ultra HD Blu-ray, the film is presented in 2160p at 2.39:1 with a higher quality, immersive English Dolby Atmos soundtrack that’s backwards compatible with Dolby TrueHD 7.1.
Bonus features on the BD and UHD BD editions include six behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and the exclusive “Vengeance Mode” in which director Antoine Fuqua and cast break down key scenes in the making of the film. The DVD contains four of the six featurettes.
