Paramount Pictures has released a TV spot for their upcoming science fiction feature Arrival starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker. In the film, alien crafts land on earth around the world and Adam’s character Dr. Louise Banks is recruited by the military to find out whether they come in peace or not.
The screenplay was written by Eric Heisserer based on the short story by Ted Chiang. Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) directed the film that was produced on a $50M budget.
The one-minute spot doesn’t reveal much about the “aliens” who land on earth, but it does give us a glimpse of what their ships might look like (unless those giant football-shaped vessels are weapons).
Arrival is slated for theatrical release on November 11, 2016. The film has not yet been rated.
Here’s the description from Paramount:
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
