Sony has revealed pricing and availability of their newest line of 2016 4k Ultra HD TVs. The suggested retail prices start at $999 for the XBR-49X700D — a 49″ class 4k Smart TV running the Android TV OS, home automation features with the Logitech Harmony Hub, and Google Cast. The two other models in the 700 series are basically the same except in larger classes: 55″ and 65″ priced at $1,499 and $2,299, respectively.
In addition to the Android TV functionality above, the 800 series also feature HDR support — the desirable boost in color depth and range of lightness that has yet to become a mainstream but well on its way. The 43″ Sony XBR-43X800D carries an MSRP of $1,299, while the 49″ 49X800D is listed at $1,499.
However, Sony promises a firmware upgrade that will add HDR support for the XBR-X750D and XBR-X700D TVs later this year. That means one could potentially get a Sony 4k TV with HDR capability for $999, if they are willing to wait.
The X800D, X750D, and X700D Ultra HD TVs are available to pre-order and will ship starting in July from Amazon, Best Buy, and other authorized dealers nationwide.
