We’ve got details on the extra bonus content and specs that will be available on Warner Bros.’ Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc release of In the Heart of the Sea, scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday, June 7th. The film has already been released to conventional Blu-ray Disc and Digital HD, but the Ultra HD edition will bring enhanced viewing to the home media release.
In the Heart of the Sea on UHD BD will include the HDR specification for deeper color range and contrast, with 4k video presented in 2160p using the HEVC/H.265 compression standard.
English audio will be offered in Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1, formats also available on the Blu-ray release. The Atmos format is not available on all Warner Bros. releases, making In the Heart of the Sea a desirable title for audiophiles with systems that support the format.
The extra bonus material, including deleted and extended scenes, a Captain’s Log from Ron Howard, and five other featurettes, is presented in Full HD (1080p) on the Blu-ray copy.
A Digital HD version of In the Heart of the Sea will also be included with the combo edition. We’re not sure yet how UltraViolet will handle redeemable UHD digital copies, and whether a discount will be offered from services like Vudu where the title is already available in Ultra HD). Unfortunately, Warner Bros. indicates in their press release it may be a completely separate transaction for a 4k Digital Copy.
Here’s a breakdown of the extra bonus content available on the Ultra HD Blu-ray release of In the Heart of the Sea.
