20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios have released the official 2-minute, 30-second trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. The plot revolves around the Marvel character Apocalypse, who, upon awakening after thousands of years is “disillusioned with the world as he finds it” and attempts to create a new world order with the help of mutants.
X-Men: Apocalypse was directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men franchise) with screenplay written by Simon Kinberg. Returning cast members include Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) among others.
New cast members include Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) playing the role of Jean Grey (formerly played by Famke Jannsen), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) as Apocalypse, and Oliva Munn (Magic Mike) as Psylocke.
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently in post-production and will release to theaters in the U.S., including RealD 3D and Digital 3D cinemas, on May 27, 2016.
