We got a tip this morning that ParamountMovies.com was offering a free Digital HD copy of The D Train with a special code. The 97-minute comedy stars Jack Black, James Marsden, Kathryn Hahn and Jeffrey Tambor about a high school reunion.
However, after successfully using the code to redeem the movie, getting an email confirmation of the purchase ($0.00), and seeing it in My Library, the title would not play or download. [Update 1: The movie works now! Streaming can be done right from ParamountMovies.com, or download using the Paramount Download Manager.] [Update 2: It appears the code is no longer valid.]
Instead, we got the message:
“This content is no longer available. This content has been taken down; we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Downloading seemed to work in FireFox, (with Silverlight and the Paramount Download Manager installed), and even shows up in the download queue. But again, an error message appears:
“An error occurred trying to download ‘The D Train’. Please try to download this again later.”
By the way, downloading is only supported with Safari or FireFox. We tried Chrome and Edge but no luck. This the message you’ll likely receive:
“Downloading of content is not currently supported on the Chrome browser. In order to Download, please use Safari or Firefox browser. We are making updates in the near future that will allow for the downloading of content again via the Chrome browser.”
To try to get a Digital HD copy of The D Train follow these steps:
- Go to ParamountMovies.com (Safari or FireFox)
- Use the redemption code xaqbks5j11dt2
- Log-in with your username/password or create a new account
- Try watching or downloading the movie
The Digital HD copy is offered through UltraViolet, and is compatible with Vudu, Flixster, and CinemaNow, as well as other services that share with UV.
