The first four episodes of Game of Thrones Season 5 have apparently been leaked, the news reported earlier today from TechCrunch. How bad was the leak? According to TorrentFreak, the first episode was downloaded more than 100,000 times in just three hours. It appears Game of Thrones will be retaining its title of “Most Pirated Show” for some time.
But will the leak hurt HBO’s bottom line? One may consider that those who would be paying for Game of Thrones Season 5 would have already been doing so. This means even the cord-cutters who may have signed up for HBO through HBO Now on Apple TV or with Cablevision, or HBO Go through Sling TV, have already committed to paying for the series. Others may have taken advantage of DirecTV’s $50 credit offer for subscribing to HBO for three months.
If you’re a paying subscriber, you may want to check out the multiple ways in which you can view the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
