Need an incentive to “cut the cord” and try out the new live streaming service from Sling TV? The company is now offering 50% off the price of a Fire TV or Roku 3 player to customers who prepay for three months of Sling TV service. Alternatively, new customers can receive a Fire TV Stick or Roku Streaming Stick for free when prepaying three months.
The Amazon Fire TV and Roku 3 media players both carry a sticker a price of $99, so the end cost to the consumer is $49.99 plus $59.97 for three months of service. Both players come with a remote control, and there are supporting apps for mobile devices.
For those who want to try out Sling TV without having to pay for the hardware, the streaming stick is another option. The devices easily plug-in to the back of most HDTVs without having to run wires for power or internet. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is list priced at $39, and the Roku Streaming Stick is $49. Both sticks also come with a remote control and free supporting apps for mobile devices.
The Sling TV service starts at $20 per month with no long-term contract required. Sling just added AMC and IFC to the base channel lineup (currently with 16 choices), and there are optional $5 per month add-on channel packages.
