DirecTV subscribers with to the SELECT, ENTERTAINMENT, or CHOICE packages will get a free preview of the EXTRA package starting on Tuesday, August 26 and ending on Monday, September 1. The EXTRA package includes over 205 channels (60 more than the lower tier CHOICE package, and 85 more channels than the lowest tier SELECT package), with about 80 channels available in HD.
During the preview, customers will be able to watch the second half of The Simpsons marathon on FXX (Ch. 259), as well as the 2014 US Open on Tennis Channel (Ch. 217) and other networks including CBS Sports Network (Ch. 221), Destination America (Ch. 226), DIY Network (Ch. 230), Golf Channel (Ch. 218), NBC Sports Network (Ch. 220), and Sprout (Ch. 295).
DIRECTV has two packages above the EXTRA service. The next, CHOICE ULTIMATE package comes with 225 channesl by default. The highest-tier package is the PREMIERE service with over 285 channels. Each service can be modified by the customer to add additional channels and channel packages.
