Xbox 360 owners have waited patiently for the Showtime Anytime app to hit Xbox Live, and as of yesterday the app officially launched. Showtime Anytime is free to download but you’ll need to authenticate with a valid TV provider username and password to view the content. The app includes access to both the live East and West Coast feeds of the channel, as well as hundreds of hours of On Demand content from shows such as Homeland, Dexter, Masters of Sex, and Showtime’s new series Penny Dreadful. The Showtime Anytime app also gives subscribers access to hit movies, documentaries, comedy programming, and sporting events. App options include the “My List” feature, and the ability to pause and resume content across multiple devices. Showtime Anytime is available in the U.S. to subscribers of AT&T U-verse, Blue Ridge Communications, Bright House Networks, Cablevision’s Optimum TV, CenturyLink Prism, Charter, Comcast Xfinity, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, Google Fiber, Grande Communications, MCTV, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS. Showtime promises support for Xbox One will come later this year.
Get a copy of FileMaker Pro, and you’ll walk away from the Dells. I was consulting for the NHS in Britain and tried to use (their) Access to run a daabtase of 100K records. It took 15 minutes to load and more than an hour to run 5-criteria queries. I brought in my Mac and imported the data into Filemaker. Less than a minute to load and open, less than 8 seconds for the largest (12+ criteria) queries. The same design that optimized Macs and OS X for graphics translates perfectly to crunching data (it’s all about the numbers). give it a shot, you’ll never touch a PC for daabtase management again.
