Panasonic has announced pricing and availability of the LUMIX GH4 with DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) technology and 4k cinematic recording capability at 4K 24p cinematic video (4096×2160), plus 4K 3840×2160 30p/24p. The LUMIX GH4 camera body (DMC-GH4K) will be available at $1699.99 and the Pro Audio Video Adapter for cinematography (DMW-YAGH) will be priced at $1999.99. (The prices do not include pictured lens or shotgun microphone.)
Features of the GH4 include a newly developed 16.05-Megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine for high speed, high sensitivity image recording. The camera was also designed with high speed response required for professionals and practical auto focus options. Wireless connectivity is possible via Wi-Fi or NFC with smartphones. In-camera imaging options of the GH4 include Luminance Level Adjustment, Focus Peaking, Silent Mode, Highlight/Shadow Control and RAW data development.
Features of the 4k Video Adapter include XLR monaural 2ch terminals (Line Mic/Condenser Mic. Input), Audio level display monitor, and 3G-SDI video output terminal plus time code. The adapter will add another 24.46 oz (750 g) to the overall weight of this combo.
The camera system will be available starting in May at shop.panasonic.com and other retailers that sell photographic equipment.
Panasonic says the current GH3 model will continue to be available after the introduction of the GH4.
