DIRECTV launching ‘Local Weather Now’ feature on Channel 362

directv-logo-300pxDirecTV along with partner WeatherNation have launched a new service called “Local Weather Now” that offers customers access to local weather information at any time. The new feature provides customized weather updates at the zip code level, and is easily accessible by tuning into WeatherNation on channel 362 and pressing the red button on the DirecTV remote control. Later this week, short and long term weather forecasts will be added to the live broadcast and will be run automatically every 10 minutes.

In early March, WeatherNation will launch the Severe Weather Mix feature that will provide six channels of coverage on one screen during major, life-threatening weather events. The channel will contain a mix of 24/7 regional and local weather information, live remotes from meteorologists, live radar channel, advisories from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), live coverage from major news networks, and coverage from local broadcast stations being affected or nearby severe weather conditions.

“We are committed to reliable, consistent, round-the-clock weather information that is meteorologically accurate,” said Michael Norton, president of WeatherNation TV, Inc.
