In their 2013 Q4 and full-year financial statement, Time Warner Cable boasted 183 HD channels on average for video customers to choose from. We’re pretty certain this number is counting VOD or PPV options, though, as we recently researched TWC’s high-definition options. Using a zip code in Santa Monica, CA to sign up for TV services through the company’s website, we only came up with 130 HD channels. Although, channels vary according to market.
TWC noted other 2013 operational highlights. By the end of last year, 2.8 million set-top boxes were utilizing TWC’s first generation cloud-based guide with an advanced VOD portal.
The company’s high speed, 100 Mbps internet was added to several cities across the U.S. including Los Angeles, Kansas City and Hawaii.
TWC expanded its Wi-Fi reach with 30,000 TWC WiFi access points by the end of 2013, giving high-speed data customers access to over 200,000 hotspots across the U.S.
In addition, the company also highlighted the TWC TV app with access to up to 300 linear channels and over 4,000 hours of VOD programming while at home. Away from home, as part of the industry’s TV Everywhere initiative, the TWC TV app provides 24 live channels and 1,200 hours of VOD content from 40 different. Networks.
The financial report posts revenue for the fourth quarter of 2013 at increase of 1.7% from the fourth quarter of 2012 to $5.6 billion.
And, the company’s full-year 2013 revenue increased 3.4% year over year to $22.1 billion.
