Amazon and CBS Corporation have extended their distribution agreement to stream shows from CBS Television Distribution and Showtime Networks on the subscription-based Prime Instant Video service. The titles include already-run shows such as “Medium,” “The Tudors” and “I Love Lucy,” as well as currently running series “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior,” “Penn & Teller” and “Vegas.” The complete “Star Trek” franchise has also been extended with CBS.
With the agreement, Amazon will also be the exclusive premium subscription home for CBS’s upcoming series Extant starring Halle Berry. Steven Spielberg produces the series, a sci-fi/drama about astronaut Molly Watts (played by Berry) whose return to earth may bring consequences.
“CBS content is clearly a great match with Prime Instant Video’s growing user base, including “The Good Wife” being the service’s #1 show this past fourth quarter, as well as strong viewership of “Under the Dome” over the summer,” said Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Offer for CBS Corporation.
Amazon Prime Instant Video is compatible with Kindle Fire HD, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, Smart TVs, and other devices.
