Here’s what’s new on Blu-ray Disc this week. Riddick starring Vin Diesel and Karl Urban has been released as an Unrated Director’s Cut edition with Blu-ray, DVD and HD Digital Copy via UltraViolet. The 2-Disc set from Universal Studios also includes the theatrical version of the film, and both versions are playable from a 50GB BD with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
If you’re missing the earlier ‘Riddick’ films, you can also pick up Riddick: The Complete Collection that includes all ‘Riddick’ films along with both theatrical and director’s cuts. The 3-Disc Blu-ray set does not include DVD copies, but does come with Digital HD copies via UltraViolet. Riddick: The Complete Collection carries an MSRP of $59.99.
Also on Blu-ray this week Lee Daniels’ The Butler hits shelves with an all-star cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave. The 2-disc set from Weinstein Company/Anchor Bay packages a Blu-ray Disc, DVD, and access code for a Digital HD copy via UltraViolet.
And, last year’s remake of the classic 1976 horror film Carrie has been released to Blu-ray Disc. The 2013 film comes in collectible lenticular packaging from MGM and includes DVD and Digital HD copy via UltraViolet. The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Carrie, and Julianne Moore as Margaret White.
