If you’re someone who doesn’t like to deal with cables you’ll be happy to know the RealPlayer Cloud app is now casting to Google’s Chromecast dongle. The RealPlayer Cloud apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Web now support Chromecast playback, allowing you to playback videos from a mobile device or PC to your TV. Once a video is cast (using a simple button in the upper right corner of the RealPlayer Cloud interface), you’re also able to use your device to control the video much like you would with a remote control. The playback is enabled via SurePlay, a RealPlayer technology built for seamless playback of videos on various screens and through various bandwidths. To optimize playback, the software creates different formats of videos you upload and stores them in the cloud to match common output sizes.
Google’s $35 launched last summer, selling through retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon.com, and the Google Play Store. Last week, ten new apps were released for Chromecast including VEVO, RedBull.TV, and the RealPlayer Cloud app.
