In October, Sony will debut two new 4k models in their X850A line of Ultra HD TVs. The 55-inch XBR-55X850A and 65-inch XBR-65X850A will sister present Sony models from the X900A series that also includes 55-inch and 65-inch models. The announcement of the new 4k TVs comes just a week after Sony dropped the prices of the X900 4k TV series by up to $1,500. The new X850A models will be priced at $3,499 (55-inch) and $4,999 (65-inch); both MSRPs still $500 less than the lowered price of the X900A models. One big difference between the two series is the lack of large integrated magnetic fluid speaker system speakers found in the X900A series. The X850A will incorporate a more standard speaker setup which may account for the lower price. The X850A series 4k TVs feature Sony’s TRILUMINOS Display with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, 4k upscaling via the new 4K X-Reality PRO chip, One-touch mirroring, TV SideView, and Wi-Fi. The new 4k TVs are now available to pre-order from Sony Store as well as select retailers.
