If you’re not sure what to check out at CES 2013, we suggest visiting Sony to take a look at their prototype 56″ 4k OLED TV. The 4k Quad HD TV (with resolution of 3840 x 2160) uses Sony’s newest oxide semiconductor TFTs and proprietary ‘Super Top Emission’ technology. Sony’s STE technology has a “high aperture ratio,” and “enables light to be extracted efficiently from the structure’s OLED layer.” Sony has already been using ‘Super Top Emission’ in professional OLED monitors for broadcast and medical applications. The 56″ 4k OLED TV also boasts other characteristics found in organic light-emitting diode displays such as high contrast, brightness, fast image response time, and rich images at multiple angles. The prototype was jointly developed with Taiwanese company AU Optronics Corp. (AUO). Sony is also displaying 4K LCD BRAVIA TV models at CES this year.
