1080p not good enough for ya’? Sony has just introduced their first consumer 4Kk HDTV measuring at 84-inches and 3840 x 2160 resolution (4x the resolution of current HD standards). The XBR-84X900 LCD TV (containing no less than 8 million individual pixels), boasts Sony’s proprietary 4K X-Reality PRO picture engine built to retain maximum image sharpness even at the display’s large size. The 4k TV also supports 3D content with passive 3D glasses. For audio, the 4k-TV set integrates a 10 Unit Live Speaker system and S-Force Front Surround 3D that simulates 5.1 surround sound. There are also detachable side speakers which let you connect to a home theater system. For split-screen gamers who don’t like split-screen, the XBR 4K TV integrates a 2-player technology called SimulView. In the SimulView mode gamers wear lightweight glasses (no batteries required) that separate the screen into two separate HD displays (of course, the game must support it). For network connectivity, the XBR 4K TV comes with built-in WiFi and supports tablet and smartphone control via the Media Remote App. Sony displayed the XBR 4K TV in their booth at Berlin’s IFA trade show.
