‘Jaws’ coming to Blu-ray Disc

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced the iconic film Jaws will be released to hi-def Blu-ray Disc on August 14, 2012. The film will be available in a multi-format Combo Pack that includes a Blu-ray Disc (for the first time), DVD, Digital Copy, and UltraViolet copy. The digitally remastered Jaws provides a 7.1 channel soundtrack, highlighting the film’s Oscar-winning music score by John Williams. And, the Blu-ray contains plenty of extras such as a new feature-length documentary, deleted scenes and outtakes, BD-Live, and pocket BLU. Jaws won three Oscars including Best Film Editing, Best Music Original Score, and Best Sound. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, setting the stage for director Steven Spielberg who went on to direct additional Oscar winning films Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Jaws stars Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw.
