According to sources such as CNET the next Apple iPad (the third generation of its kind) will not be called iPad 3. Instead, the tablet will be named iPad HD, a brand solution that’s not exactly original (not that “3” is) but representative of the iPad’s rumored new & improved high-definition display, of which we have no more details to speak of. But isn’t the iPad’s 1024×768 resolution at 132ppi already high-definition enough? Apparently not. We’ll have to wait and see how many more pixels Apple can squeeze into a screen that the human eye “can’t see.” As far as the branding, the use of “HD” has been found in other apple products such as Final Cut Pro HD and iMovie HD. So, if the iPad 3 is named iPad HD it certainly won’t come as a surprise. Other rumors claim the iPad HD will have 4G LTE networking. And yet another rumor warns that supplies of the iPad’s new display will be limited. Whether any of these rumors hold true, we’ll find out on Wednesday, March 7 when Apple has its big iPad 3 press conference.
