UFC Undisputed space launched on PlayStation Home

Sony has launched a public space for UFC gaming fans on PlayStation Home called the UFC Octagon. Although almost six months ahead of the release of UFC Undisputed 3 on January 3, 2012, the Home space contains training games, trivia and rewards. Sony's not missing any opportunities to sell you memorabilia such as posters, fight gear and furniture in anticipation of the PlayStation 3-exclusive release.

ENCORE produces original programming

ENCORE, owned by Starz Entertainment LLC, has announced the production of the network's first original programming. The mini-series "Moby Dick" premiering August 1 at 8pm ET/PT stars William Hurt, Ethan Hawke, and Gillian Anderson. The show is a new take on the classic book by Herman Melville and will run for 3 hours on consecutive nights from August 1-2.

Netflix renews with NBCUniversal

Netflix is in the news yet once again as the company announced renewal of a multiyear television and film agreement with NBCUniversal. That means past seasons of NBC shows "The Office," "30 Rock," "Parenthood," Law and Order: SVU" and "The Event" will be available to Instant Watch. Shows from NBC Universal's cable networks will also be available such as "Warehouse 13," "Psych," "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and "Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane."

Netflix offers unlimited DVDs for $7.99

Netflix is now offering a DVD-by-mail plan that lets you rent as many discs as you want for $7.99 per month. (Note: streaming is not included.) The company says this is their lowest price ever offered for unlimited DVD rentals (formerly $9.99 per month). The plan boasts no late fees, cancellation anytime, and delivery in about 1 business day. Guess Netflix isn't quite ready to go streaming-only after all. USPS must be smiling.

Warner to release Planet Earth Special Editions

I've got Planet Earth on both HD DVD and Blu-ray, and already considering the upcoming Special & Limited Editions from Warner scheduled to hit shelves October 4th. The Limited Edition comes packaged in, get this, an earth globe that opens to reveal 6 Blu-ray Discs as well as 4 exclusive art cards. The Limited Edition globe will list for $99 MSRP.

DIRECTV may add four HD channels

According to TVPredictions, satellite TV provider DIRECTV may add four new HD channels to their lineup this month. The premium channels expected to launch on July 27 include 5 Star Max, HBO 2 West, @Max and WMax East. The online publication cites emails from readers as well as Wikipedia references.
