Cablevision and HBO have partnered to offer HBO GO and MAX GO to iO TV customers who subscribe to HBO and/or Cinemax. The new agreement between the two companies means that subscribers will soon be able to access HBO and Cinemax content on a PC, Apple iPad, iPhone, or iTouch device, as well as supported Android tablets and smartphones. Cablevision didn’t give an exact date, but indicated the added service would roll out in the next few months.
HBO says that with the addition of Cablevision iO TV subscribers their HBO GO service will soon be available to 98% of HBO subscribers. HBO GO lets subscribers watch over 1400 titles such as Game of Thrones, True Blood, and The Sopranos instantly on their internet-connected device.
Cablevision already offers streaming content to iO TV subscribers via their own Optimum App. In August, 2011 version 2.0 of the app was launched to support most Apple iOS devices. The app can also be used as a remote and to schedule DVR recordings.
When the services launch, subscribers can use their Optimum ID and password to log in to HBOGO.com or MAXGO.com.
