KA-POW! Just like that, one of the most anticipated releases of the year has been uncloaked. Batman: Arkham City is now available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version expected next month and a Wii U (remember that?) debut next year. ‘Arkham City’ is the follow up to the 2009 smash hit and critical darling, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it looks like it may even top its predecessor.
Despite the absence of Adam West in tights, the game is averaging a whopping 95 through its first 30 reviews on Metacritic, with multiple sites gushing to give a purrrfect score. And yes, that pun means Catwoman is in the game and playable. 1UP says “Controlling Batman as he completely terrorizes his victims, whether via the invisible predator gameplay or the brutal combat, is an experience rivaled by few others.” The third-person action effort from Rocksteady Studios lets you beat up baddies like the Joker, Penguin and Two-Face with an array of furious fists and gadgets.
Batman: Arkham City is on sale now for $59.99, or you can pony up $99.99 for the collector’s edition which comes with a bonus DC Universe original animated movie, Batman: Gotham Knight; custom Batman statue; art book; four collectible cards; and early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map; and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin.
