Peter Jackson’s ‘The Frighteners’ announced for Blu-ray

NBC Universal has announced a release date for Peter Jackson’s “The Frighteners” on Blu-ray Disc. The 1996 film stars Michael J. Fox as architect Frank Bannister who turns into a “ghostbuster” after meeting ghosts in his unfinished house. Jackson produced, directed, and co-wrote the horror/comedy film that just about broke even at the box office.

“The Frighteners” on Blu-ray will include both the theatrical and director’s versions of the film on one BD-50. Sound is formatted in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Extras include “The Making of The Frighteners,” storyboards, My Scenes, and Pocket BLU. Total run time of the director’s cut is 2 hours and 3 minutes.

The 15th anniversary Blu-ray Disc will release on September 13, 2011.
