SEGA (Europe and America) will release Captain America and Thor video game titles with 3D visuals. Both Thor: God of Thunder and Captain America: Super Soldier will release on multiple platforms including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the upcoming handheld Nintendo 3DS device scheduled for release in North America on March 27, 2011.
The 3D titles will also include multiple formats. For 3D TVs. the games utilize active shutter glasses and support Side-by-Side and Top-Bottom modes. (The PS3 versions also support Frame Packing mode for HDMI 1.4.) For non-3D displays, the games will viewable using anaglyph red- and blue-lensed glasses.
Both Marvel games will also be available in 2D for the Wii system and Nintendo DS (non-3D system).
“Playing as Captain America with bullets whizzing past in stereoscopic 3D and having a titanic Frost Giant charge straight at you in Thor will bring an unprecedented level of adrenaline to the gameplay experience,” commented Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America.
Thor: God of Thunder is scheduled to release on May 3, 2011. Captain America: Super Soldier is scheduled for release on July 19, 2011. For Nintendo 3DS, the games are scheduled to release when the films hit DVD late this year.
