Time Warner Cable launches YNN local news in HD

Officials at Time Warner Cable and its Albany-based 24-hour local news channel YNN recently launched the high-definition (HD) version of that channel. In the company’s Capital Region service area, that brings the total number of available HD channels to 135 with still more on the way.

Time Warner Cable customers with an HD digital converter box and an HD television can watch YNN in its HD format on channel 1809.

Anthony Proia, Regional Director of News Operations for TWC’s Local News Division, said, “While YNN has always been a fully-digital channel, and we have always had great pride in the quality of our newscasts and their transmission, we’re even prouder now to offer this HD channel around the clock.”

He added, “We know many of our viewers watch HD programming almost exclusively now that Time Warner Cable offers up to 135 HD channels, so we wanted to satisfy their desire for a full-time local news channel delivered in this HD quality.”

John Quigley, Area V.P. of Operations for Time Warner Cable, added, “We’re happy to be the only local channel offering high definition programming 24 hours a day for our viewers who appreciate and expect the superior benefits of high definition, and believe our continued investment in technology further enhances our customers’ viewing experience as we launch this and other new channels and services.”

YNN recently celebrated its eighth anniversary.
