New streaming HD titles from Netflix

heat-posterArguably the best shootout in film history, Michael Mann’s Heat looks fantastic in HD and is now available streaming on-demand from Netflix. Al Pacino plays a cop hot on the trail of a bank robber played by Robert De Niro. This film is close to 3 hours and worth every minute of it. (1995, R)

A great looking film in high-definition is Revanche from Austrian director Gotz Spielmann. In the film, an ex-con falls in love with a prostitute in the city of Vienna. This film just came out on Blu-ray Disc as well. (2008, Rated R) (English Subtitles)

Wanna see a great rugby film? Forever Strong is a story that’s more about life than rugby. But through the game a young player who ends up in jail for a DUI gets a chance to redeem himself on the field. (2008, PG-13)

And, if you’ve never seen it before The Color Purple is a must-see classic adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize winning Story. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey. The Color Purple was nominated for 11 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Lead Actress (Whoopi Goldberg).
