User Poll: Top Blu-ray Discs of 2008

HD-Report users voted on the best hi-def Blu-ray disc of 2008, and it’s no wonder Batman Begins took home the trophy with almost 20% of the votes. Coming in second place was a tie between Iron Man and Wall-E, both with 15 percent of the votes. In fourth and fifth place were Transformers and Band of Brothers, with 14 percent and 9 percent respectively.

This random polling of HD-Report users sampled the first 100 votes on a list of Top 10 Blu-ray discs for ’08. The list of Blu-ray discs was generated from Amazon’s “Best Selling” list as of Dec. 8, 2008. Although Amazon does not reveal actual sales numbers, the list relays the “most popular” discs on the website.

You might be asking “Where is The Dark Knight in the Top 10 list?” Since the poll was started before The Dark Knight was released, it wasn’t included. However, The Dark Knight broke all Blu-ray sales records and surely would have taken a top spot among the discs if listed. According to Warner Bros and Home Media Magazine ‘Dark Knight’ sold 1.7 million Blu-ray copies in its first week which opened on Dec. 9. The record was previously held by Iron Man, which sold 850,000 copies in its first week.
