‘The Crystal Skull’ announced for Blu-ray

indiana-jones-crystal-skull-blu-rayParamount Home Entertainment announced Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc October 14. Although it was given one of the worst film titles in a long time, except for the ‘Indiana Jones’ part, this film is a refreshing throwback to the 80’s films.

It’s the tale of an ambitious anthropologist who meets his son in a search for the coveted Crystal Skull of Akator. Although far fetched at times, the film has plenty of action and special effects that will be sure to look great in high-def. And, you won’t get enough of that “Indy” humor as he brushes off his hat after surviving a nuclear blast.

The DVD will be available as a single disc or two-disc package. Both the DVD and Blu-ray Disc contain behind the scenes footage and features. The Blu-ray release marks the first new release on BD from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Steven Spielberg.

The Blu-ray release will be 1080p with 5.1 Dolby True HD for audio. Disc 1 will contain Indiana Jones Timelines, The Return of a Legend, and a Pre-Production feature. Disc 2 will contain additional special features entitled Production Diary, Warrior Makeup, The Crystal Skulls, Iconic Props, The Effects of Indy, Adventures in Post Production, Closing: Team Indy, Pre-Visualization Sequences and Galleries.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull runs a total of 122 minutes. The film stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf, Ray Winstone and John Hurt.
