125 Londoners Get Free HDTV

Sure, the numbers of people buying PS3s in Europe are going to be small. The machines are going for £425 (about $830), over 25% higher priced than in the U.S. and there’s a lot of press pushing for European gamers to wait for version 2 of Sony’s new game machine.

Sounds like the grumbling in line – especially over the price of the console – went completely away when Sony officials gave everyone in that line a free 46″ Sony LCD HDTV. Those are £2,000 each, so that works out to a pretty good deal.

The question: How many people will descend on retailers in other parts of the world, expecting a deal like this that they’re not likely to get?
