Another lame week for HD DVD, Blu-ray holds up

Another lackluster week for HD DVD, as Blu-ray releases a few more titles of recognition. Take a break from watching your kids and pop in the animated film Open Season with voiceovers from Martin Lawrence, Debra Messing, Ashton Kutcher, and Gary Sinise.

You won’t need to get on a plane again as Discovery Atlas releases a series of travel DVDs in hi def that will take you right there. Visit Brazil, Australia, China and Italy. (see list below)

Blu-ray and HD DVD simultaneously release The Wicker Man, and Beerfest. In The Wicker Man, Nicolas Cage stars in this redo of the 1973 film of the same name. This one got a whopping 3 stars out of 10 on IMDB. Beerfest is best described by it’s name, however entertaining with a 6-pack, some nachos and friends.

If you are a Bruce Willis fan, and a fan of war movies, you will want to pick up Hart’s War on Blu-ray. For some great flight scenes and effects check out Flyboys also on Blu-ray.

HD DVD releases Half Baked: Fully Baked Edition, the Dave Chappelle flick about pot smoking from 1998.

This one is rated R for pervasive drug content, language, nudity and sexual material. What else do you need in a film?
