CES: HD DVD’s new 51GB announced

In your face Blu-ray – ours is bigger. Toshiba releases a hi def disc that surpasses the capacity of Sony’s Blu-ray by 1GB. Kachow! The 51GB triple layer disc (17GB per layer) has been tested and proven successful.

Much like Sharp beating out Samsung in the biggest flat panel race, Toshiba ups the stakes in the race for hi def format race. Not only do they create a bigger disc, the first adult film in HD is released on HD DVD. This could be yet another repeat of the Beta vs. VHS battle, where Sony lost in the consumer market.
