New ‘Riddick’ film begins production

Universal Pictures has announced production on the next Riddick film has begun today. The third live action film in the franchise after Pitch Black (2000) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), Riddick will again star Vin Diesel as the most wanted man in the galaxy. Diesel is also producing the film under his company One Race Films, which also produced Fast Five and Fast & Furious. In the film, Riddick is once again stranded on a seemingly lifeless planet which turns out to be so dangerous he calls on mercenaries to “rescue” him. Karl Urban (Star Trek, The Bourne Supremacy) will return to the franchise as Lord Vaako. The film is currently shooting in Montreal, Canada.
