James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy will finally be available on 4k Blu-ray Disc! The new Ultra HD 2-disc edition arrives on Oct. 1 (the same day as Doctor Strange (2016) and Ant-Man (2015) and includes a copy of the film on Blu-ray disc as well as Digital UHD via Movies Anywhere. For those of you with 3D TVs, the edition will unfortunately not include a third 3D Blu-ray, but you can still get All-Region 3D Blu-ray Combos for about $25 on Amazon.
On UHD BD, Guardians of the Galaxy is presented in 2160p resolution at 2.40:1 aspect ratio. The 4k print includes HDR10 for expanded color range. And, the English soundtrack has been upgraded to Dolby Atmos with 2.0 Descriptive Audio. French and Spanish tracks are available in 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus.
Extras have been previously released (and only available on the 1080p Blu-ray) with a Guide to the Galaxy, Intergalactic Visual Effects, Gag Reel, deleted scenes with commentary from James Gunn, and film commentary from Gunn.

Best Buy is also selling a Limited 4k Blu-ray SteelBook Edition of Guardians of the Galaxy for $34.99. The hard case features the “Guardians” on the cover and inside spread with Starlord’s infamous cassette tape on the back.
