HBO Max will include live programming, AT&T said Wednesday in an earnings call. But the upcoming streaming service may be adding the feature in the future rather than “at the early stages.”
The company said live sports would eventually be added, with programming coming from WarnerMedia’s Turner and Bleacher Report including the NBA, MLB, European soccer, and the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
“This won’t be at the early stages of HBO Max, but you should assume that ultimately, HBO Max will have live elements,” said AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson.
Live news will also eventually be offered with HBO Max.
“You can go through the areas of news that we think are very, very important and will do quite well as an element of HBO Max,” said Stephenson.
As far as the NFL Sunday Ticket, it won’t be offered as an add-on with HBO Max upon launch.
