One of the better looking 4k Blu-ray’s we’ve seen over the last few years is 7x Oscar-nominated film The Martian. Shot in a variety of formats, the movie features some great footage that utilized Dolby Vision in the cinematographic process. Although the Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital UHD formats use HDR10, the color depth achieved with High Dynamic Range is impressive when compared to the standard 8-bit Blu-ray presentation.
The Martian also features a soundtrack in Dolby Atmos, allowing more immersive sound effects so you can feel more like Matt Damon’s character Mark Watney as he braves the red planet alone.
It’s a long way of saying if you haven’t already picked up the Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of The Martian and have a 4k/HDR supporting TV system the film is only $7.99 today at iTunes. That’s a good price considering it usually costs $14.99 from Apple and from other digital retailers.
