“The Humvees ain’t coming back for us dude!”
It’s certainly ranked up there with the best war films of all time, and now it’s releasing to 4k Blu-ray. Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down (2001) will hit stores in a 2-disc Ultra HD Blu-ray edition from Sony Pictures on May 07, 2019.
There will also likely be upgrades to digital copies from services like iTunes and Vudu, which of course will be available through an included redemption code with the Blu-ray combo edition.
On 4k Blu-ray, Black Hawk Down is presented in 2160p at 2.40:1 aspect ratio with High Dynamic Range (HDR10) color improvements. We don’t have confirmation of audio formats yet, but we’re hoping for a Dolby Atmos upgrade from the 5.1 channel audio found on the original Blu-ray release. Update: Confirmed English audio in Dolby Atmos / Dolby TrueHD 7.1!
Black Hawk Down won two Oscars (Best Film Editing & Best Sound) and was nominated for two other Oscars including Best Director and Best Cinematography. It features an all-star cast that includes Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Tom Sizemore, Eric Bana, William Fichtner, Sam Shepard, Ewen Bremner, Tom Hardy, Orlando Bloom, and Gabriel Casseus among others who contribute to this action-packed thriller.
You can order Black Hawk Down on Ultra HD Blu-ray (MSRP: $30.99) from Amazon. Best Buy has a Limited Edition SteelBook selling for $24.99
