Roku’s new updated Premiere model plays 4k/HDR10 content at a fraction of the cost of an Apple TV 4k (starting at $179) and $30 less than Amazon Fire TV (starting $69).
Granted, you get a lot more storage space with the Apple TV 4k (32GB), which is also available in a 64GB model for $199, but unless you’re downloading movies what is the advantage?

The Roku Premiere doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of higher tier models. It’s missing voice remote control, a headphone jack, MicroSD, USB and Ethernet ports, and remote finder…but it’ll get you streaming 4k/HDR for less than $40 bucks.
Roku is also premiering a Walmart exclusive, the Roku Premiere+, that is everything the Premiere is with the addition of a voice control remote and control power/volume buttons for your TV. That model will sell for $49.99.
What’s more, Roku has updated their top-of-the-line Roku Ultra model which will now include premium JBL headphones (value $39.99) in the box. Two new remote finder sounds have been added as well, featuring SportsCenter’s Da-Da-Da from ESPN and HBO’s Game of Thrones theme song.
The new Roku Premiere and Ultra models start shipping on Oct. 7, however there is some doubt whether Walmart will have the Premiere+ in stock on that exact same day.
