Amazon has been streaming titles in Ultra HD and HDR since way back, when series like Mozart in the Jungle and Transparent pioneered the new format paving the way for newer series such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Comrade Detective.
Now, the list of Ultra HD titles on Amazon is extensive, but it’s always been difficult to find titles on the Amazon.com website to purchase in Ultra HD. For example. using the search term “Black Panther 4k” only shows the Digital HD version and “Black Panther Ultra HD” results in the message “We didn’t find results for “black panther ultra hd” in Prime Video.”
However, if you land on Amazon’s Ultra HD page in Amazon Video there is a product titled “Black Panther (2018) [Ultra HD].” What gives Amazon? Why don’t you list your Digital Ultra HD options with SD and HD?
Among the new movies available to purchase (not yet available with Prime) are titles such as Black Panther, Peter Rabbit, and All the Money in the World. But you have to find them first. Here’s a quick link over to Amazon’s Ultra HD digital page that also lists titles available with Prime membership.
Of course, when using the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, 4k Blu-ray players and media players it’s easy to find titles in 4k/HDR. Amazon organizes UHD titles in categories and will often include “Ultra HD” in the title. Ultra HD content will only play on supporting TVs and devices.
