For the fifth straight weekend in a row Disney’s Black Panther leads the box office beating out the premiere weekend of Warner Bros.’ Tomb Raider.

Box office stats predict the film will take in approximately $27 million from 3,834 locations this weekend, which is about $5 million more than Tomb Raider’s earned $22 million from 3,854 sites.

So far since opening, Black Panther has beat premiere weekend’s of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, Fox’s action film Red Sparrow, and MGM’s remake of Death Wish starring Bruce Willis.

This is the first time a motion picture has held the top spot since Jame Cameron’s Avatar which dominated for seven weeks in 2009. And, Black Panther has become the seventh film ever to cross the $600 million mark in North America.

The film also surpassed “Beauty and the Beast” when, in 18 days, it became the ninth-highest grosser in North America of all time.
