The Cleveland Cavaliers secured their trip to the NBA Finals after an embarrassing show by the Celtics at TD Garden on Thursday night. The Cavs destroyed the Celtics 135 – 102, and will get to head to Oracle Arena for Game 1 on Thursday, June 1.
This may be the biggest challenge of Lebron James’ career, and what might define him as being the best basketball player that every lived, or still slightly behind the likes of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. If Kyrie “goes nuts” like he did against the Celtics in the third quarter, Lebron may not have to take the entire series on his shoulders.
The Golden State Warriors on the other hand are fully stacked to face Cleveland. With the addition of Kevin Durant last year there may never have been a team with this much fire power. The Warriors went 12-0 in the Western Conference (no team had ever gone 12-0), and will play Game 1 against the Cavs with ten days of rest.
This is what we all knew would happen, an NBA Finals Trilogy of the same two teams. Let’s just hope the series is more competitive than the rest of the playoffs that paled in comparison to the excitement of the NHL playoffs. Thankfully, the networks were smart enough not to schedule the NHL Stanley Cup Finals back-to-back with the NBA Finals.
