‘The Godfather’ Coming to Theaters for Limited Showing

the-godfather-trailer-still1Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece of filmmaking The Godfather will release to select theaters this summer on Sunday, June 4th and Wednesday, June 7th. The TCM Big Screen Classics promotion will feature exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz, celebrating the 45th Anniversary since the film’s debut in 1972.

Ranked Number 1 on IMDB’s “Top 100 Films of All Time,” The Godfather set a standard for dramatic filmmaking that would influence hundreds, if not thousands of films made after it including award-winning titles such as Scarface (1983), Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995), and the hit cable TV show The Sopranos.

The Godfather won three Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Best Writing, Screenplay. The film was also nominated for another eight Oscars including Best Director, Best Sound, and Best Film Editing among others.

It’s a rare opportunity to see a classic film such as this on the big screen as it was intended. Jump over to Fathom Events to see where The Godfather is playing next to you. We suggest getting tickets right away to ensure you get a seat during these two day showings.
