Nvidia’s latest 5.0 upgrade to Shield TV has added support for 4k HDR specs from Amazon Video services, as well as 4k HDR on NVIDIA GameStream.
With the update to stream HDR video from Amazon, Shield TV owners can stream series like Mozart in the Jungle (Seasons 1 & 2), Transparent (Seasons 1 – 3), and The Man in the High Castle (Season 1) through the device to a compatible 4k HDR TV.
Shield TV already supports HDR through Netflix, and was the first streaming media player to support the new specification, even before Roku and Fire TV.
Also with the update, NVIDIA GameStream provides a lower-latency experience
has been upgraded to provide 4K HDR, as well as smoother, lower-latency streaming. Play your library of PC games and enjoy direct access to Steam Big Picture from the Steam app.
Nvidia also announced Shield will soon support Google Assistant, the the AI service that can be controlled hands-free though the SHIELD controller.
Your Shield TV should automatically update as long as it is turned on and connected to the internet. If not, go to Settings > About > System Update to manually install.
