DirecTV has announced they will deliver six Notre Dame Football games in 4k Ultra HD on NBC this season. The first game in 4k will be on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern when The Fighting Irish take on the Nevada Wolf Pack.
This will be the first time a live college football game has been aired in 4k UHD.
The Notre Dame games will be broadcast on DirecTV Channel 106, but getting the program in 4k isn’t as easy as plugging in a new 4k TV. Anyone who wants to watch 4k programming through DirecTV needs to have a Genie HD DVR (model HR54 or later) or 4K Genie Mini, and must call DirecTV to set up the service. There is also an additional monthly charge for 4k programming.
“From the Masters Tournament to the Olympics to Notre Dame football, DIRECTV is continuing to deliver the most live sports in 4K,” said Dan York, chief content officer, AT&T.
