Sony has officially introduced their flagship Z Series 4k Ultra HD TVs with support High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. The XBR Z series will be available in three different classes that include a 65-inch, 75-inch, and monster 100-inch set. The 65-inch and 75-inch 4k TVs will be available sometime this summer, while ship date for the 100-inch model is yet to be determined.
The new Z series features Sony’s new Backlight Master Drive technology shown at CES 2016 that expands brightness and contrast, and the newly-developed 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme for image processing. The X1 incorporates three new technologies that include an object-based HDR remaster, dual database processing, and Super Bit Mapping.
But you probably want to know how much these top-of-the-line Sony 4k TVs will cost, right? The 65-inch class XBR65Z9D carries an MSRP of $6,999, while the 75-inch XBR75Z9D is $9,999. Sony hasn’t revealed pricing for the 100-inch XBR100Z9D yet, but you can imagine it will be in the tens of thousands.
President and COO of Sony Electronics, Mike Fasulo, calls the Z Series their “best and brightest HDR Ultra HD television” sets.
