Paramount Home Media and DTS have announced a partnership that will bring DTS:X audio to home media releases. The first titles to feature the immersive sound format include Daddy’s Home, The Big Short, Zoolander No. 2 and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
“DTS:X is our most recent, most advanced product offering, raising the bar for in-home entertainment. Consumers and content creators have higher expectations than ever and DTS:X will exceed the most demanding expectations,” said Bill Neighbors, general manager, digital media and streaming solutions at DTS, Inc.
“Working with DTS, a leading contributor in sound innovation, allows us to deliver a great consumer experience with audio technology that enables the immersive audio our feature content deserves,” said Edward Hoxsie, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Product Production & Fulfillment, Paramount Pictures.
What audio systems support DTX:X? Denon, Marantz, Sony, Trinnov and Yamaha are among AVR manufacturers that have models that support DTS:X through firmware updates. (The Yamaha YSP-5600 sound bar will be getting a firmware update this summer.)
Other brands such as Acurus, Anthem, ARCAM, Integra, Krell, McIntosh, Onkyo, Outlaw Audio, Pioneer, Steinway Lyngdorf and Theta Digital/ATI will soon release firmware updates to support DTS:X.
