DirecTV is currently offering a free preview of the XTRA service package with over 220 channels — many of them in HD. The package includes about 45 more channels than the CHOICE service below it, and about 75 more channels than the basic SELECT package. Among the popular HD channels not available on lower tiers are FXX HD, National Geographic WILD HD, DIY Network HD, Golf Channel HD, NBA TV HD, and FYI HD. The free preview started on Tuesday, May 24th and runs until Monday, May 30th, 2016.
DirecTV’s XTRA package is the company’s most popular service plan that has a normal monthly fee of $81.99 per month. The rate does not include special equipment or HD service and DVR.
In other DirecTV news, the TV provider is doing some rearranging of a few channel locations. By June 12th, IFC will move from channel 564 to channel 333, MTV2 will move from channel 333 to channel 332, and, VH1 Classic will move from 337 to 336.
