sony ultra adSony has officially launched the Ultra App for select Sony Bravia 4k TVs that delivers movies and TV shows in Ultra HD resolution. At the same time, the company is offering up to $120 in Ultra movie credits with the purchase of a qualifying Sony 4k TV.

Sony Pictures movies that are available now or coming soon to the service include The Amazing Spider-Man, Moneyball, Salt, and Ghostbusters. TV shows such as The Blacklist Season 1 and the complete Breaking Bad series are also available on the platform.

Unfortunately, the only Sony Ultra HD TVs that are compatible with the app are from the X930D and X940D series 4k HDR Android TVs that start at $2,199 US.

Those specific models include the 55″ class XBR-55X930D ($2,199.99), 65″ class XBR-65X930D ($3,299.99) and 75″ class XBR-75X940D ($6,499.99).

The ULTRA 4K Movies & TV app is powered by the Sony Pictures Store and offers 4k streaming including HDR support for higher contrast and color range.

The service is also compatible with UltraViolet so once connected you should see your UV collection available. Supporting UV services include CinemaNow, Flixster, and Vudu.
